Issues That Don't Get Lost in Email
Create, assign, and track issues right on the 3D model — and share them with any design software.
The Problem
Issues found during design review — a missing dimension, a code compliance concern, a coordination question — are tracked in email threads, meeting notes, or spreadsheets. Nothing links back to the 3D model, so resolving an issue means finding the right drawing and hoping it matches the current design. Issues get lost, duplicated, or forgotten.
The old way: someone spots an issue during a design review meeting, writes it down in the meeting minutes, emails the minutes to the team, someone is assigned to fix it, the fix is made, and someone else has to verify that the fix actually resolved the issue — by finding the right drawing and checking. If the issue is not resolved, it goes into the next meeting minutes and the cycle repeats. Issues are tracked in 3 or 4 different places, and nothing links to the 3D model.
- 1
Create an issue on the model
Click any element in the 3D viewer and create an issue linked to it. The issue includes a saved viewpoint, so anyone who opens it sees exactly what you saw — zoomed to the right element, from the right angle.
- 2
Assign and prioritize
Assign the issue to the person responsible, with a priority (critical, high, medium, low). They get a notification with a direct link to the issue in the 3D viewer.
- 3
Track status
The issue moves from "open" to "in progress" to "resolved" to "closed." Every status change is logged with who changed it and when.
- 4
Share with any design software
Issues use an industry-standard format (BCF), so they can be exported and imported by any design tool (Revit, ArchiCAD, Navisworks, and more). Your team is not locked into ApexBIM — issues flow freely across tools.
The Outcome
Issues are never lost. Every issue has a saved 3D viewpoint, so there is no ambiguity about what it concerns. Resolution is about 40% faster because the person assigned can see the issue in context right away. And because issues use an industry-standard format, you can share them with any design tool.
